The common camcorder mod format is simply a MPEG-2 container and a JVC .mod is no exception.
In order to use these files in any popular video editor simply rename the .mod extension to .mpg
You may need to enable show or unhide extensions on both Mac and Windows platforms in order for this method to work.
.mod files will also work fine with no alteration in imovie.
Hi there,
I have tried simply changing the file extension from '.mod' to something else (i.e.: '.avi', '.mpg', etc), but this does nothing.
When I try to run it with Windows Media Player (in either '.mod' format or one of the others), it simply shows the screen shot of the start of the clip, and doesn't play at all.
Suggestions?
Sounds like your mpeg2 codecs may be broken or missing completely.
I would recommend downloading the awesome http://cccp-project.net/ codec pack and try it again.
